Myschool is a digital platform that provides a) full-fledged informatization for the daily operation of schools and administrative entities of K12 education at all levels (prefectural, regional, etc.), b) a dense interoperability framework and services withing the Greek digital ecosystem. The main goal of the system is to constitute a large-scale central infrastructure operating under the e-gov paradigm. Myschool’s central database is accessed through a www interface.
Relevant figures of Myschool’s modelled entities are the following:
- 1,4M students
- 14K school units, of 76 distinct school types (including schools operating abroad) and curricula
- 168K teachers under 186 distinct teacher specialties
- 19,7K subjects (thematic areas as taught under a distinct lesson group, of a particular class level of a particular school type)
The adoption and operation of Myschool so far has yielded the following benefits:
A. Full-fledged informatization of public and private school entities, for free. The platform is developed using www technologies and provides typical School Management System capabilities (modelling of students, classes, curricula, student progress, class timetable, exams, teacher registry, etc.), school building and equipment modelling, a powerful report and statistics engine, BI capabilities, etc.
B. Adoption of digital transaction workflows (paper-less model), for the efficient and effective implementation of several administrative processes involving distinct user roles withing the educational hierarchy.
C. Data-driven decision support. Myschool’s unified operational model as well as the availability of school produced data at a central level, allow for a smart data-driven administration, i.e. the development of algorithmic scenarios and knowledge extraction techniques on various aspects and parameters of the Greek educational system’s profile.
D. Wide interoperability. Myschool lies at the heart of the Greek digital ecosystem’s registries, providing interoperability services to many central information infrastructures for various purposes (e.g. the General Secretariat of Information Systems, Social Welfare bodies, the e-parents system, the Digital Diploma service, assessment bodies/applications, etc.).
