The project aims to develop Innovation Centres in the thirteen regional education directorates of our country. These regional centres will be supported by a central infrastructure for the support and provision of educational content and other services, which will support them and supply them with educational material, support materials, training services, etc., in order to create an ecosystem of knowledge accessible to a larger number of school units throughout the country.
The creation of the Innovation Centres is expected to contribute to the further development of students’ skills by encouraging and motivating them to take an interest in and pursue future studies and careers in STE(A)M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics), thus improving the country’s human resources and its competitiveness in the field of science and technological development.
The Innovation Centres will be purpose-built, high-quality STE(A)M learning environments, green growth and innovation promotion in general. Each lab will be designed to further support multiple curriculum themes and modules to meet the educational needs and interests of each community.
The Innovation Centres will visited by schools across the region, based on specific programming, to ensure that students are utilising the infrastructure, being introduced to new technologies, forming opinions and directing their interest. At the same time and given that the relevant AR, VR and AI technologies have started to penetrate many aspects of our everyday life both for educational purposes and as utilitarian tools and for entertainment, the Innovation Centres will be supported by an Educational Laboratory of Virtual (VR), Augmented (AR) Reality, which will be exploited while meeting the needs of students and teachers in inaccessible areas of the country.
